Fillers & Filler Injections
London | Northampton | Milton Keynes

  • Volume loss is one of the prime cause for an aged look. Fillers provide a quick solution with immediate effect. However, it is important to appreciate that the common fillers are effective only for mild volume loss, for anything more you may be better served by having implants. Secondly, fillers are reabsorbed and require repeated injections for maintenance. Fillers placed in area of frequent motion (e.g. lips) will not last as long as fillers placed in less mobile areas.

  • Nowadays there are many different fillers in the market. However, the most popular (Juvaderm, Restylane) have Hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a natural occurring chemical within our cells. It does not cause allergy and is a non-animal product. A big reassurance is that if for any reason you do not like the fuller look after injection, the filler can be reversed by injecting another natural chemical! I do not use permanent fillers such as silicone – implants are a better choice for this purpose.

The charge for HA fillers is dependent on the number of syringes required – this in turn depends on the area being injected and your specific requirement. You MUST avoid excessive movement of the injected area and apply ice packs.

Filler injections can hurt, therefore for most areas; I use local anaesthetic to eliminate the discomfort. Theoretically any wrinkle or fold on the face can by treated with fillers, however the common areas treated with fillers are

    1. Lip Enhancement – Fillers can enhance the outline and/or increase the volume to improve the definition as well as make the lips look plumper. You are likely to require one syringe for outline and one for volume replacement.

Fillers can also be used to mitigate the vertical wrinkles (lipstick lines) though usually this is combined with BOTOX for minor wrinkles or with deep dermabrasion for deeper ones.

    1. Nasolabial fold – The line running from the side of your nose to the corner of your mouth can deepen with time. This can be softened by filler injection, typically you will require between 2-4 syringes for adequate effect.
    1. Injection Rhinoplasty – Fillers can be an excellent substitute to smoothen out minor nasal defects i.e. depression, asymmetries or to make the nasal hump less obvious.
