What happens on the day of Deep Plane Facelift surgery?

In these toggles, we’ve provided some general information about the procedure. For specific information about how we can help you, contact us for a consultation.

Once you have checked in at the reception and completed the necessary paperwork, a nurse will call you in for some final checks.

They will check your blood pressure and pulse and complete the necessary paperwork.

You will then see your Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, Mrinal Supriya. He will answer any final questions you may have and ensure you are happy to proceed with your planned procedure.

If your procedure requires general anaesthetics, you will also meet the Anaesthetic Consultants who will ensure it is safe to proceed.

Once all the checks are complete, you will be put to sleep and brought down to the theatre by a member of the team.

If your procedure is under local anaesthetic, I will administer the injection to numb the area of surgery.

The procedure will then take place.

The deep plane technique is a full-face lift that works to lift the sagging lower face and upper neck in its entirety. The skin and muscle are lifted together as one unit which repositions all deep facial muscles. This is usually done by a “hidden” cut that runs from the front of your ear around to the back and then ends within your hair at the back. The incisions are well hidden and are not apparent after a few weeks.

After surgery, you will go through to recovery where a dedicated nurse will look after you. They will ensure you are doing well and that all of your vitals, e.g. heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and oxygen is OK.

The nurse will also give you pain killers or medication for nausea if required.

If all is well, you can go home and relax.

Given the extent of surgery involved in the deep plane technique, you do need to schedule 2-3 weeks for recovery. You will likely experience minor self-resolving inconveniences such as temporary numbness, bruising, swelling and you will have to take good care of the wound.
However, the investment you put in during the recovery is truly worth it as there is no other procedure that can give you a comparable outcome.

We will give you details regarding further follow up.

You would require someone to drive you home and to stay with you for the first 24 hours.

  • General anaesthetic risks
  • Temporary nerve weakness in 1-2%

The results of the deep plane facelift are more rejuvenating and longer lasting by 10 years, on average, than any other facelift technique. It is the ultimate facial procedure.

Hear what our patients have to say

Our reputation rests on the experience of our patients

“Mr. Supriya operated on my daughter Mia earlier this year carrying out a septoplasty and surgery to both turbinates. I am a nurse myself and have worked for many years in the operating theatre and cosmetic industry so I am used to dealing with surgeons. Mr Supriya is an amazing person, not only a very competent surgeon but a very kind caring man who put himself out completely to help and accommodate Mia for her surgery. For the first time in 12 years Mia can breath properly so to say we are grateful is an understatement.”
