Refine Your Profile with
Precision Chin Augmentation
A well-defined chin can bring balance to your facial features, but for many people, a naturally receding or under-projected chin affects their facial harmony. If you’re considering a way to enhance your lower face and achieve a more structured appearance, chin augmentation at British Face Clinic offers a tailored solution.
We provide surgical chin enhancement in London, Milton Keynes and Northampton for clients looking to improve their profile and overall facial symmetry. Our goal is to help you achieve natural, long-lasting results that complement your unique facial features.
What is Chin Augmentation?
Chin augmentation is a cosmetic procedure designed to enhance the shape, size, or projection of the chin. It can be performed using a customised chin implant or through surgical reshaping of the bone, depending on your aesthetic goals and facial structure. This treatment is often chosen to address concerns such as a recessed chin, weak jawline, or lack of facial proportion.
At British Face Clinic, we offer both chin implant surgery and genioplasty, with each procedure carefully planned to suit the individual needs of our clients. Whether you’re seeking subtle refinement or a more pronounced chin projection, our team will guide you through the most appropriate option.
Benefits of Chin Augmentation
Chin augmentation surgery offers a number of physical and aesthetic advantages:
- Improved facial balance: By adjusting the size or shape of the chin, we can create better harmony between the chin, nose and jawline.
- Enhanced jawline definition: Chin reshaping can create a sharper, more sculpted lower face profile.
- Permanent results: Unlike temporary fillers, chin surgery offers long-lasting results tailored to your facial anatomy.
- Boost in profile aesthetics: Particularly effective for side profile enhancement in cases of receding or small chins.
Your Chin Augmentation Journey
at British Face Clinic
Consultation
Your journey begins with a detailed consultation at our London, Milton Keynes or Northampton clinic. During this visit, we’ll assess your facial structure, discuss your concerns and explore the most suitable chin enhancement options – whether that involves chin implants, bone advancement, or jawline contouring.
Procedure
Chin augmentation can be carried out using a silicone implant placed through a small incision (either hidden under the chin or inside the mouth), or by adjusting the underlying bone through a procedure known as sliding genioplasty. Both approaches are performed under local or general anaesthetic, depending on the complexity and your preferences. Our surgical techniques are designed to achieve natural-looking, balanced results with minimal visible scarring.
Recovery
Following chin augmentation surgery, you may notice some swelling, tightness or bruising in the chin and jaw area. These effects are temporary and typically subside within a couple of weeks. Most clients return to work and everyday activities within 7 to 10 days, though we recommend avoiding strenuous activity during early recovery. Full results will become more visible as the swelling settles.
Results
Once healing is complete, you can expect a more refined and balanced lower face. Whether you’ve chosen chin implant surgery or genioplasty, the outcome is a stronger, more symmetrical chin and improved facial proportions.
Chin enhancement is ideal for those seeking better lower face definition without altering the natural character of their features.
Who is Suitable for Chin Augmentation?
Chin augmentation may be suitable for individuals who:
- Have a naturally small, recessed or underdeveloped chin
- Are seeking to improve the shape or definition of their lower face
- Have good general health and realistic expectations
- Are looking for a long-term solution to correct facial imbalance
During your consultation, we’ll assess your bone structure, skin quality and jaw alignment to determine the most appropriate chin surgery technique. In some cases, chin reshaping may be combined with other procedures for comprehensive facial harmonisation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect after chin augmentation surgery?
Following surgery, you may experience swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness around the chin and lower face. These effects are normal and usually settle over one to two weeks. Most clients return to work within 7 to 10 days and your final results will become clearer as the swelling gradually reduces.
Can chin surgery correct a weak or recessed chin?
Yes, chin augmentation is commonly used to address a naturally recessed or underdeveloped chin. By enhancing the chin’s shape and projection, the procedure can significantly improve the overall balance of your facial features, especially when viewed in profile.
What is the difference between genioplasty and chin implants?
Genioplasty involves reshaping or repositioning the chin bone itself, while chin implant surgery enhances the area using a custom-fitted silicone implant. The best approach depends on your anatomy, desired outcome and whether bone movement is required for balance or function.
Does chin augmentation help with facial harmonisation?
Absolutely. A well-proportioned chin plays a key role in overall facial harmony. Chin augmentation can create better balance between the chin, jawline and nose, resulting in a more symmetrical and structured appearance.
How do I know if I need chin reshaping or an implant?
The right option depends on your bone structure, soft tissue profile and aesthetic goals. During your consultation, we’ll carry out a full assessment and recommend whether a chin implant or surgical reshaping (genioplasty) is more appropriate.
Can chin augmentation be combined with other procedures?
Yes, chin augmentation is often combined with treatments like rhinoplasty or neck contouring to create a more cohesive and balanced facial profile. This is especially common when addressing overall facial proportions in a single surgical plan.
