Clara – 74 years old
Introduction
Clara, a vibrant 74-year-old lady, came to see me feeling that the changes of ageing had begun to take a toll on both her appearance and confidence. She was particularly troubled by the laxity in her lower face and the “turkey”neck with indistinct jaw line. Clara described how the drooping skin, loss of jawline definition, and presence of jowls left her feeling older than her years. She was also concerned about the prominent fat pads beneath her chin and along her neck, which further obscured her profile. Beyond the physical aspects, Clara longed to feel more youthful and regain the confidence she felt ageing had gradually eroded.
Consultation
On examination, Clara showed typical but pronounced lower facial ageing: sagging of the mid and lower face, loss of definition at the jawline, and significant skin laxity in the neck. She also had deeper nasolabial folds and marionette lines, which added to the tired appearance she described. Together, we discussed a tailored treatment plan to address these concerns comprehensively. I recommended a deep plane facelift to elevate and reposition the deeper facial tissues, a neck lift to restore her neckline, a forehead lift to open and refresh the upper face, fat injections to soften the folds around her mouth, a lip lift with TCA peel to refine fine lines around the upper lip. Day of Surgery
On the morning of her procedure, Clara was understandably a little anxious but expressed trust in the process and was eager to move forward. Recovery
As expected, Clara experienced initial swelling and some discomfort during the first two weeks of recovery. Importantly, there were no complications. Recovery from a deep plane facelift typically involves a period of visible swelling and bruising, which gradually subsides over two to three weeks. By the end of the first month, Clara was already looking and feeling considerably better, and her new facial contours were beginning to reveal themselves.
Results
