Most patients spend a lot of time researching the surgery itself.
But according to Mr Mrinal Supriya, the things that truly shape your
experience often go unconsidered.
In this video, Mr Supriya opens up about what patients consistently
underestimate when considering facial cosmetic surgery, from the reality
of recovery, to the psychological impact of change, to whether you are
truly ready for it mentally and emotionally.
Because getting facial surgery right isn’t just about choosing the
right procedure. It’s about preparing properly, understanding the full
journey, and choosing the right surgeon to guide you through it.
Transcript:
In my experience, patients downplay the recovery and the emotional journey. The operation and the operative technique is difficult, but it is not the only important part. Many patients think that facial surgery is just about getting the surgical technique right. In reality, preparing for the surgery, decision-making about whom you have the surgery with, and recovery—both physical and emotional—matter just as much. I’ve been doing complex surgery, head and neck surgery, in NHS for decades. And that has reinforced in me that managing expectations and choosing the right person is often more important than choosing the operation itself. So in my view, when all of these elements align, surgery becomes a positive, confidence-restoring step, not a source of regret.
